Great thread! Brings back many memories for me. I fished the pier for many years and was a member of the Long Branch Fishing Club. I fished the pier since I was 10 years old. Did you guys ever had a reunion? I sure miss the pier and the regulars fishing there.

Some of the old timers from the Long Branch Pier stop by there regularly.......
I think 3 fingers Pete might have passed on....but some of the other crusty old farts are around..:)..Finchaser, Joe Melillo....etc
and you might remember Mark Ballocco....he's probably around your age........

They might be able to fill you in with some more details.......


I think that pier was one of the icons of our NJ fishing history....and you're right....the stories are great.....

Welcome Joe. Just some advice if you ever fish with dark, fish downwind of him. He can be a little ripe some times. Otherwise he's a good guy. (just bustin dark, you know it's true):HappyWave:

Yes, my name is Joe.
So far this spring have been fishing the party boats for striper and blues. It has been pretty good so far. Have not tried the beach this year yet.
Might be fishing this coming Friday. I'll take a ride in the afternoon to Castaways and say hello.

Thanks, It was one the best places to fish for fluke during the day. The weakfish and blues at night. I did also fished sometimes in the winter for whiting/ling. I use to spend the weekends on the pier and got to know a lot people out there.
