OH MY!!
As a brief reminder for those who forgot or for many that didn't
know
Here is what happened, quietly, on January 1, 2016:
Medicare tax went from 1.45% to 2.35%
Top Income tax bracket went from 35% to 39.6%
Top Income payroll tax went from 37.4% to 52.2%
Capital Gains tax went from 15% to 28%
Dividend tax went from 15% to 39.6%
Estate tax went from 0% to 55%
A 3.5% Real Estate transaction tax was added.
Remember these facts: These taxes were all passed solely with
Democrat votes.
Not a single Republican voted for these new taxes.
These taxes were all passed in the Affordable Care Act, aka
Obamacare. If you think that it is important that everyone in the U.S.
should know this as there are many millions who don't, then pass it on.

Sorry FC as much as I agree with your political views I have to remain objective here.
The post is very misleading as it leaves out all the important details on those tax numbers.
The Snopes link you provided even shows that the article is "FALSE".
After hearing Bernie Sanders talk I am very scared...makes me want to quit my job so I can go to college for free, get free housing and free insurance plus free food. I'll travel the US and become a fishing bum!

Some of the confusion could come from how folks view their government. Take lower oil prices. A lot of people are happy with that. They don't realize at 50/barrel some other industries and choices will suffer. Fracking has a minimum oil price floor to be sustainable. When prices are low other alternatives, like wind farms, pipelines, etc, become less attractive. Similar forces with interest rates. We all love low interest rates. The problem with that is it discourages folks from keeping money in banks. Us old folks sufffer. So with every policy that someone is in favor or, others must sacrifice or do with less.
I don't approve of universal health care so I am on finchaser's side.
I do agree that sometimes it's not just the executive branch. A lot of these deals were made in Congress. Democrats and Republicans alike have egg on their faces. My .02

I don't know a lot about politics. It does make sense that you have to hold the party responsible for the voting patterns. We spend way too much money in this country at the national and the state level. My .02
