With opening day mar 1 coming up. Any thoughts on where the first legal one might be caught gents? North? South? Will the South win vs the Yanks this year?:ROFLMAO:HappyWave:

Same thing by me there is a power plant in the E river stopped by near there the other day when it was 60 degrees. Old guys were catching stripers on old clams and frozen bunker.

Power plant fish don't count! I say the first legal striper in the raritan bay will be weighed in March 10. Anyone else?

Both the winter flounder and internal waters striped bass seasons opened today, and Phil Sciortino at the Tackle Box in Hazlet reported the first legal striper of the season -- a 28 1/2-incher caught on a clam/sandworm combo by Matt Calabria of Hazlet -- who also hooked four shorts. Phil also had reports of shorts from Cliffwood and Union Beach.

^^Well that didn't take long. Looks like the Yanks beat the South, just like in the Civil War.:wheeeee::kicknuts:

Be careful who you're calling out. Ocean and Atlantic usually produce the first fish every year. This year a dude got lucky big deal.

Aah first striper of the year is OK I guess. Congrats to the angler. I'm more interested in who's going to post up the first dead thing. There have been lots of storms and some coming up. Should be some nice finds laying around. Maybe even a new montauk monster in NJ. Let's get it going guys and get out there on the dead thing search!

Wow nice going! Assuming the date is wrong. I saw rubber in that pic - is that a bass assassin or a small sluggo?

I drove past a very popular place the other day cars and trucks in fisherman everywhere. there were too many vehicles there for them not to be catching. these places are very easy to find, look for the gathering of trucks along the parking lot or side of the road. And look for the crowds that don't speaka da English.bingo you found the spot.
