So I missed blitzing fish in a perfect storm today where some giant stripers were caught. One guy walked off with a striped bass that had to be over 4 feet long it was almost as tall as he was.How much do you guys think a fish over 4 feet long would weigh?Could it be a 50 pounder? Someone said it was but I never heard of a 50 pound striper getting caught from the beach in the fall. Thanks

Heard about that fish. 50 or bigger. Snag & Drop. Maybe he weighed it in somewhere. If so we'll soon find out.

Haven't heard about a 50 Pounder from the beach since like 2008 or 2009 when the surfguide Shell Karis got one and they had a whole bunch of big stripers in island.beach 1 spring. if it's true, congrats to the angler- that's a beast!

This was the weekend of the giant stripers. From Friday till yesterday saw so many 20 and 30 pounders caught and a few forties. The fish were moving fast in many cases. You had to be right there when they were. Ocean County was good in various spots, but I think by today the biggest mass will be in LBI or Brigantine. I kept one striper between 15 and 20 pounds every time out. my biggest this weekend was 29 pounds. Mostly snag and drop, some on pencil poppers. Kept her as well because she swallowed the treble and was all bloody. I hope we see some more fish. That was probably some of the best fishing I have seen in a long time.
good luck guys

Seems it was like winner winner chicken dinner for the occo surf and lots of handfuls of nothing for moco. Good job on the catching to those who were in on it

^^^^reminds me exactly of how things were in the late seventies and 1980. A lot of similar conditions, many beaches with no life at all and only a few areas where big fish are being caught. Very happy to hear about the anglers catching these nice fish, but you have to wonder if it's not the beginning of the end.

Remember Sam Adams that young kid who got that 41 pound striped bass from the LBI surf last year. There are still some big fish being caught from surf since then. Just thought I would rally the troops here. This is the first week of November. I think there are still better fish to come down the pike.

scene a 50 pounder caught this spring in back bay marina. He was a russian or polish dood and ran home wit it as soon as he got it.

Some of my old friends in Jersey telling of banner fishing 1-3 miles off the beach. Everyday someone catches a 40 or 50 pound bass. Is this true or they just telling tall tales?
