I have seen a bunch of bass kept this year on LI.
Also many released, but the amount of guys walking off the beach with bass this year compared to the past few years to me is staggering.
There seems at times to be a lot of bass in the 28-32 inch range where I have been fishing.
Likely a good year class of fish?
Would have been a good time to have a 26-36 inch slot where you would release fish in that range and build a solid breeder class.
This is all from the beach, can imagine whats happening on boats.

I heard the boats are killing them taking their limits every time they can, especially those charter captains.

Heard same thing, absolute slaughter up there to the north.

People become a lot less diligent about catch and release when they are in the middle of blitzing bass and lots of others are keeping them. That's what I have seen.

Kill them all before there gone ego and greed $ is the mentality. We need another moratorium before its too late seen this before never thought I'd see it again.

Just read about the Gill Netting around Montauk this year on another site.
Net sets in close, bass moving along shore had no chance at times. Dead bass and blues along beaches.
Not good.

I say kill them all as well. People don't care anymore they only care about your own personal best 40 pounder. I don't know if it's true, but according to social media you guys in joizy have the greatest striped bass run ever right now.

I rarely catch stripers LOL so I don't know if I'm the best person to answer. One time last year in the spring I came upon a beach where they had a blitz a half-hour before. So many guys with stripers that must have been way bigger than 20 pounds because they had to hold them with two hands. I guess they threw a lot back, but all I saw was a continuous line of fisherman coming off the beach with big stripers. My .02

someone should try to reach out to the meat-men. Every time they advertise limit's plus plus plus I wish someone would take a dump on their boat!

Yeah it lasted 2 days just fished 14 hours not even a bump 4 on the beach and 10 in the boat epic my A_S

Acres of bunker they need to increase netting them they are destroying bass population by guys who cant catch a bass with out a 12/0 bunker snag and a bunker no skill needed. IF you cant do that keep a 24 to 28" with a bonus tag
I got a bonus tag this year as did all my friends for the first just to keep someone who would use it from getting one

I like that get the bonus tag just to keep some other idiot from using it. Awesome, great thinking!

There's no other choice than to see them shut it down. A lot of people are frustrated now because the fishing sucks. Then you get two days great fishing and everyone is all pumped up and they're prostaff with their 25 Pounders at Betty and Niccks
when the fishing gets real hard, I think over half these guys will quit. Many of them are blitz fisherman and they expect the fish to be blitzing before them so they can catch. Not many guys are going to keep on fishing when it takes four or five hours to scrape together a catch.
