The biggest stripers are being caught off of virginia right now and posted daily on the message boards down there. An awful lot of fish in the 40- 50 pound class caught in last 2 weeks.

agreed. It's pointless to try lately, unless you're fishing warm water discharge.

Yeah but you can never say never. There is still a lot of bait around even though I haven't caught any fish. You have to figure that some small stripers COULD be around especially if you have two or three sunny days in a row.

Love that Spirit man don't lose it!
even though everyone else may be calling you a fool lol! I agree you never know when the smaller fish might be active, maybe late afternoon is probably the best bet. Good luck everyone

And I don't mean to argue with finchaser or you other guys. I know it's mostly over, but sometimes you just got to get out of the house and wet a line, Cheers!

You can't fight the inevitable. The water temperatures are lower this year compared to last. Read all sorts of posts from guys saying
last year on December 31st for New Year's they had bass and blues. every year is different and this year the water is colder and most of the fish have already left. My .02

dear fat lady: please give us one more week of fishing. I would love to catch a Christmas striper. Doesn't matter how small I just want to feel a tug on the end of the line. Thanks
