I got out twice this weekend. was thinking they would be on the feedbag before the storm that never happened, LOL. Managed a few short fluke, rockin robins, and one ugly stargazer. Would love to catch a bluefish that big this time of year. Did not think they were still around.

Is it just me, or do things seem slower than usual this summer? Did a quick run into OC after work, 7 to 9 pm. Bucktails, plugs Etc did not get much love. Managed a sea robin, couple hits from snappers, but nothing really exciting. Oh well at least it was something. Good luck out there guys.

Think I am behind a report here...can't seem to get the hang of uploading to this platform from mobile.

From 7/29/17:

Hopped on board the Stephanie Too yesterday w/Capt. Maui Jim for a little fishing in the calm before the storm.

Plan was to blackfish until we ran out of crabs and then a little fluking afterwards and the togging was pretty good!

I got my first 10# blackfish of the year on a jig which was great. One of the other guys got a 8#er also on a jig.

Only 1 triggerfish this trip which was released.

The single porgy is for the guys who were asking why the last couple of pictures didn't have hundreds of porgies https://www.facebook.com/images/emoji.php/v9/fa5/1.5/16/1f642.png:)

The larger fluke was about 4-5#.

Biggest sea robin I have ever seen in my life!

Got an 80-100# ray that took my crab while we were togging. Finally got it boat side after a long battle on a light freshwater St. Croix rod. That was fun for the first two minutes...lol

Wanted to salvage some of the weekend after the big NE blow so we went out Sunday afternoon. The wind settled down nicely in the afternoon and there weren't many boats on the water which is always nice.

The ocean was still unsettled with a big swell so we stayed in Raritan Bay. Had some crabs and clams so I decided to explore some rocks to see what we could find.

No blackfish hits on the crab which surprised me. Not sure if the bay waters are just too hot or because the water was stained.

Absolutely savage porgy fishing by RB standards. Drop and reel four man NY limit being selective on the size we kept in under two hours.

Because of Saturday's unstable forecast, I decided not to enter into any of the fluke tourneys.

Had a couple guys drop out at the end for different reasons so we sailed with just two of us.

The plan was to have a nice relaxing day of fluking in the bay if the weather allowed.

We left the dock around 8:30 after the rain had passed and tried fishing in the bay for an hour but it was just too dirty. Moved out to the ocean and found a good fluke bite immediately.

Got our two man fluke limit and called it a day...really wish I had brought some crabs with me to do some togginghttp://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21112&stc=1http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21113&stc=1http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21114&stc=1.

Holy Mackerel

The black sea bass infestation continues...easily getting our limit of 8 bigger ones and releasing a ton of smaller keepers.

Fluking was ok with lots of shorts but only 3 keepers.

Spent a bunch of time on anchor playing catch and release with blackfish. Nothing over 4# on this drop but plenty of action w/light tackle and jigs.

Bonus triggerfish who self-identified as a blackfish.

Ugh...I have a feeling we will get screwed on fall sea bass.

A little on the slower side today but still big filet bags and even bigger smiles all around!

Oh boy did the sarcasm ran deep on today's trip - a ton of laughter all around which sometimes reminds you its not always about "catching" and more about just getting out there.http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21116&stc=1http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21116&stc=1http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21117&stc=1http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21117&stc=1http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21118&stc=1http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21119&stc=1http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21120&stc=1

On Sunday I took out three first time fishers/boaters.

The weather was so nice I wanted to do a little combo trip in the ocean consisting of blackfish/sea bass/triggerfish and porgies.

Ran out front and the beginning of the long period hurricane swells got them all sick before we even dropped anchor.

Ran back into Raritan Bay settling for porgies.

Drop and reel fishing for 1.5hrs and then the puking started again so I decided to call it a day.

Still managed 80+ fishing on a 10" size limit.

Three of us headed out early this morning.

Started of by porgy fishing being selective on what we kept. Fished on a voluntary 11" size w/20 porgy per person. Took longer than expected; there wasn't as many big porgies on this piece as we have been seeing recently.

Buddy had 5 weakfish anchored less than 20ft away.

Nice surprise blackfish on a porgy rig.

Switched over to fluke which was hot from 10:30 - 1pm until the tide changed and it became wind against tide. Called it a day around 2pm after drifting for over an hour without a hit trying to finish off our limit.

Peanut bunker was the hot ticket today - no takers on gulp.

Never left the bay!

Fished OC last night into sunset. Lots of skeeters and flies caught and feasted on me. Did manage a few short fluke. And one small cocktail blue.

Headed to the mid-shore tuna grounds yesterday about 40-50miles out on a friend's boat. A little bumpy ride out in some solid 4-5' tight swells.

Arrived to find a total False Albacore invasion with a handful of bonito, bluefish, and skipjack mixed in.

Final count was somewhere in the dozens of albies...Funny how they have no problem eating bigger baits with 130-170# leader in 100' of water but inshore everyone claims you need 10# fluro (I don't share the same opinion).

Kept some bonito to eat and a couple of albies to make swordfish baits out of. All fish were absolutely stuffed with small sand eels.

Nice going. I have been steadily catching king fish in Cape May. Up until this week and the rough surf. I hope the storm doesn't mess things up too much.

Rough weekend for me, got to the boat Saturday morning only to discover on the ride out that the Port side motor wouldn't shift in/out of gear.

Decided to give it a shot locally in the bay w/just the other motor where we had good action past trip (only a few miles from the marina).

The action was slow, water was filthy, peanut bunker was everywhere.

Wind vs Tide....drift sucked and didn't want to make a run elsewhere on just the one motor.

Put some keepers on deck and back at the dock before noon.

I'll get my revenge on the flat ones this weekend...http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=21129&stc=1
