When do you start plugging for good?

I hate bait fishing. If fish are there early season, have to do it. But only because I'm a fish ho. When do you stop using bait, and just strictly use plugs for the season?

I try to plug all year around, if my fingers don't freeze.:) When it's real cold, I use rubber or bucktails fished slowly. Sometimes just hold in the durrent if you find a channel or dip. Have been known to throw a clam or 2 from time to time.

The arrival and slaughter of the bunker usually tells people to get out their plugs.

I like to plug better than bait fish. I find the bait fishing a little boring, but if that what it takes to get a fish then I jump right on board.

I fish plugs from the begining of the season to the end of the season. I fish bait once in a while over the summer to kick back with friends and a couple of brews.

I throw plugs from april till december. No bait, I enjoy the looking, hunting for fish, trying to trick bass and blues iinto taking a plug. I think I would basically want to go fishless rather than use bait.

I'm not crazy about fishing with bait either. I like to catch a fish on a plug or something artificial, it gives me a thrill. Last year I was fishing way before this, but this year some family things came first. I will be starting this weekend, and I usually fish till October or the middle of November if the fish are around.

I usually start plugging/flyfishing first week of May, and fish plugs to first week to 2nd week of Dec. years ago thru Christmas Holidays.

I will baitfish early on in the season only until the water warms up a little and the Bass arn't as lethargic. Even though I have had great days on bait, size/quantity, my mindset is for plugging. Nothing against bait people, everybody does what they enjoy. So, soon as the water feels right, or if there are too many skates or robins around, I will start plugging, usually in April sometime. I won't use bait again till the following spring, plugging right through summer, fall, and ending up in January with shorter trips and if I can stand the cold.
I guess the attraction to plugs for me is the trying to achieve perfection each time out, never really accomplishing it, but the fun is in the trying.

I am plugging now, but will throw bait if the water is really cold, or after the NE pattern we are having now. Clams are king in that situation. :D

I do this in the spring, at least until the bass are more active I like to plug or jig while clamming. That won't always get you the fish though. When it's cold they want that food on the bottom.
