How come I miss strike so many fluke fish?

I fish sometimes the bay, sometimes in the ocean. I catch fish, but many misses on my lines when I am trying to use the bucktails and gulp. Do I strike too fast? It is like they are just playing it, or hitting it short. Any advise? Thanks guys

Either your hooks are too big, or you are getting hit by croakers, kingfish, or small snappers. Try to downsize the hooks, see it if works.
