Shad and herring in the hudson?

Wanted to fish the Hudson this year for the first time. Anyone know when the runs start, and where is a good place to start?

I have been following this guy and his reports. He is saying it is the earliest he can ever remember catching herring up in the feeder creeks of the hudson. Enjoy.

From what I understand the Hudson is already filled with herring. Usually they don't start making their way up until April. This is a very early year.

Very early, i agree. The herring have shown up weeks ahead of time.
