Bought one in 2005, end of summer special. This was a decent unit, around $800. It crapped out in Sept 2007. And of course I didn't buy the extended warranty. After all, anyone knows that most failures are likely to occur in the first few months. After that, they will last for many years with the right care.
Tech comes to the house, says needs ecp, control panel. $350, plus cost of install. I would say this was just my luck, but I bought the same model for a girlfriend, and hers failed also.
Tech tells me they have been having problems with that model, the panels fail a lot.
When i was a kid, I remember Kenmore was one of the most reliable brands, just as good as Maytag. They don't make things like they used to. http://www.stripersandanglers.com/images/icons/icon13.gif
