I usually fish with guys who have cast net skills. My one friend puts a lead weight between his teeth, separating it out, and has a great arc as he throws. Yet I still struggle. Any videos or instructional manuals out there?

Many people own a net, few can throw one well. Very detailed by capn Lorenzetti.:clapping:

I have a Black Pearl 8' radius with 5/8 mesh silver series. Great at opening. Would recommend it.

I use a West Coast Net. It is 7'. Had it for a few years now never had any trouble.

I would say it depends on the bait you are after more than anything else. What are you looking to gather? I have a couple different sizes, use the smaller diameter (6-8') for big bunker and peanuts.

When mullet are around, you need a bigger diameter net if you want to bring any in. They 're quick, I usually throw a 12' for them.

Also depends on the depth of the water. I don't know how big you are, but for me, a 6' or 7' is just not productive. I would advise you to throw the biggest net you can handle "efficiently".

There are some casting videos around here, you should check them out as well.

As for brand, doesn't much matter to me, because they all need repair sooner or later, I spent about an hour the other night retying my net in a few places and checking the action.
