ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A Massachusetts man is among the survivors of a fishing boat sinking off Alaska.
The Coast Guard says the boat's captain, 40-year-old Henry Blake of Worcester was rescued from a life raft along with three crewman 17 hours after their vessel sank early Wednesday.
The 93-foot fish processing boat Katmai went down in severe weather in the western Aleutian Islands. The bodies of five crew members have been recovered. Two were still missing on Friday.
A marine board will investigate the deadly sinking. The Coast Guard says the three-member panel will convene as early as this weekend to begin taking testimony from the survivors and others.
Officials say they don't know the cause of the sinking. The National Transportation Safety Board will also investigate.
