rods and rocks

Does anyone take their best rod out on the rocks? I've been tempted but haven't done so yet.

Some guys swear by their high end rods, but my frind had a Lami (Ron Arra)? that he broke on the rocks. They replaced it, but he said something about those rods have a bad rep for guys fishing the rocks. An Ugly stik is a much cheaper rod, but it's what I use and they stand up to a lot of abuse and mishandling.

graphite and rocks don't mix well together as strong as it is I feel they are still pretty brittle and susceptible to damage I only use my ugly stik for bait I do occasionaly plug w/my small Lami I don't buy high end stuff so the concern is not there for me too worry all that much.
