Got the winter blues already? I do!
The good news is that the winter is show time in the Northeast. The winter schedule of fishing shows kicks off next weekend with the Second Annual Arts of the Angler Fly Fishing Show in Danbury.
On November 15 and 16, the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum will host the Arts of the Angler Fly Fishing Show at the Danbury Plaza Hotel, in Danbury.
The show features fly tying, bamboo rod making and bamboo fly rods, antiques, books and collectibles. There's also a collection of outstanding vendors displaying the most complete selection in fly tying materials and fine fly fishing tackle and equipment.
Attendees will once again find the most qualified and professional fly fishing personalities in the USA providing seminars and demonstrations.
Among those on hand are Keith Fulsher, Fran Verdoliva, Kathy Scott, David Brandt, Jay 'Fishy' Fullum, Bob Mead, Mike Longuil, David Van Burgel, Paul Rossman, Bruce Marino, Jerry Stercho, and Jack Pangburn.
Over 40 top-notch fly tiers and the Catskill Fly Tying Guild will be tying flies non-stop over the weekend,
David Van Burgel will be planning cane and Katch Scott will be furling leaders.
A select group of vendors will be on hand with the highest quality of fly tying materials, contemporary and highly collectible fly fishing equipment and accessories, bamboo rods, art and books. Fly tying classes will be available with David Brandt, Bob Mead, Mike Martinek, and others.
There will also be a live consignment auction featuring collectible tackle, books, and accessories. A special prix fixe dinner will be available on Saturday night before the auction.
Do you have used books to sell? Bring them.
Simply bring a list of the titles, price the books in pencil in the top right hand corner of the first inside book page, drop them off at the CFFCM Book Exchange table and enjoy the show.
If any of your books sell, the CFFCM will take a 10 percent commission and pay you for the books sold on your way out. You have nothing to lose.
On the other hand, you will find a great selection of books sold by people just like yourself to fill those empty library slots and likely at a bargain price.
For a complete schedule of programs, seminars, and special demonstrations, who will be tying, who will be selling, directions, and other information, visit the website at www.cffcm.net.
Admission to the show is just $10 and directly benefits the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum. Sign up for special fly tying classes by calling 845-439-4810 or via email at flyfish@catskill.net The Plaza Hotel (formerly the Sheraton) is located on Old Ridgebury Road, off exit 2 on Route I-84 in Danbury
