most all my life i used spinning reels, except for boats. this week i saw some dudes use conventionals and making awesome casts. i want to get in shape for the the big girls come in the spring. i think conventional might be the way to go.
they told me to get an abu 6500, so i'm set with that. i'm looking for recommendations for the best conventional 9' to pair it up with. i will be using 1-3 oz with it, maybe metals, plugs, and bucktails. any suggestions, lami or others?

I would take the reel to the tackle place you deal with and put it on a couple of rods and see how the combo feels. If you want a lami you can also go on their site and sign up and give them the info and they will tell you what rod would be best.Good Luck that is an art to learn casting conventionals.

Try the 9ft. Lammi surf and jetty rods. I see more of them on the beach and rocks than any other here in jersey.
