Is it legal to squeeze and pull the tail of a fish for measurement? Friend almost got a ticket from Fish and Game.

That depends on how much squeezing and pulling you are doing. The better way to refer to it is "pinching the tail", where you squeeze the tail ends together to get your measurement. However, a 26" fish will never turn into a 28" fish, so be careful how you squeeze. :rolleyes:

I've been told by one DEC officer it was legal when I landed a very close keeper bass with him present and sent it back anyway might be ok with him but with another guy maybe not.

I look it as why do I need the aggravation of someone interrogating me like I am a criminal? If it is close but under, I would rather release it. Maybe the next one will be bigger. My .02
