Ever meet anyone famous?

Were they good people, or jerks? How about some stories. I met Joe Walsh once at a county fair. He was a nice guy, very easy going.

Met Muhammed Ali at Newark Airport. Well didn't really meet him, but passed by him and his bodyguards. Obviously didn't talk to him, but when he saw that I noticed who he was, and wasn't going to bother him, but just gave him a thumbs up, he gave me a real big smile and nodded his head.

Not a very exciting story but I thought it was cool.

Joe Montana walked into Sean O'Grady's sports bar in Somerville one night after a card show in Pissthataway late one night. There were only 2 or three of us in there, regulars, but before you knew it there were 100 people crowding around him, asking to have everything and their brother autographed, taking pictures, being stupid, etc. etc.

He was great, bought everybody drinks till way past closing, never took offense. When he was leaving, the manager asked him to sign the wall where you leave the bar, underneath the words "Play Like A Champion Today." (You can guess the theme of this bar.) He said sure, signed it, and left.

The next day, after sobering up, we noticed that he had signed it 'Michael Jordan.' rofl

I met Sean Connery at a Broadway Play once. Everyone was pointing and talking about him. I was the only one who left my seat during intermission and approached him. I told him how much I admired his work. We had some small talk and I left with him signing my playbill.

Also met Sugar Ray Leonard in AC. Don't remember the casino but it was in a lounge, he was by himself tossing one down. He signed my napkin. What a thrill.

Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis

This was sometime in the 80's when I was a lot younger, working in a gas station. We knew who she was because she used to ride horses at her friend's house in Peapack-Gladstone.

One night when I was waiting on another customer, she pulled in in her blue BMW. I immediately ignored that customer and went to wait on Jackie. She seemed a little disoriented, and had lost her way after going horse riding. I went to shake her hand, told her I had always admired her, put her hand to my lips and kissed it.

She must have been in her 50's then, but was still beautiful, and full of grace. She wasn't even startled when I kissed her hand. Maybe she was used to having men do that all the time.

As I said, she was very graceful, a truly nice woman. My friends kidded me about it after that, but I had my moment, and took it.
