Anglers Encouraged to Attend Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program
February 2, 2009
The NJDEP’s Division of Fish and Wildlife will be holding it’s annual trout stocking public meeting at the Pequest Trout Hatchery (http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/pequest.htm) on Saturday, February 14 at 10:00 a.m. This important meeting provides an excellent opportunity for anglers to ask questions, voice their opinions, and give suggestions regarding New Jersey’s trout stocking program (http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/trtinfo.htm).
Freshwater fisheries biologists with the Division of Fish and Wildlife will present information on trout production at the hatchery, as well as spring trout allocations for individual waters. They will also discuss trout program updates and hold a comment period at the end of the program so everyone in attendance has the chance to engage in meaningful discussion, and ask questions of the biologists present.
The Pequest Trout Hatchery is located on Rt. 46 approximately nine miles west of Hackettstown in scenic Warren County. For directions, please visit www.njfishandwildlife.com/peqdirct.htm (http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/peqdirct.htm) on the Fish and Wildlife Web site.
Division of Fish and Wildlife biologists take public comment seriously and do report meeting outcomes to the Fish and Game Council (http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/councils.htm#fishandgame), so don’t miss this chance to have your voice heard and be a part of fisheries management in New Jersey!
