Went to check out the flea market there today. It was a pretty cool setup, one big hall for some vendors, and a smaller hall for the others. There were some great deals to be had, especially with some of the older reels. The premium ones were priced accordingly, but if you were willing to pick around through the tables, you could find a nice vintage reel for low bux.

Met some knowledgable collectors and vendors. There were also some incredible deals on teasers, plastic plugs like bombers and tsunamis, and some amazingly cheap prices on wood plugs. There were a few of the high demand plugs for sale such as beachmasters, as well.

In all, I think there was something for everyone here, and they had food too. It didn't seem that crowded because of the 2 halls, but there seemed to be a good flow of new people every few minutes.

I wanted to make the Lacey Elks flea market in Forked River NJ today too, but there wasn't enough time. To anyone I was supposd to meet there, sorry, I'll catch ya at the next one, e-mail me with the details.

Don from Blue Point, LI: Used reels, vintage, current reels, everything in-between.:wow:
Don came to the show with his lovely wife Roxanne. Meeting them was like meeting Stiller and Meara, lots of laughs and stand-up jokes. I think they should take their comedy act on the road. They've been married 35 years, and she still puts up with him. :D ;)

Seriously, I found Don to be a straight up guy, no BS. If ya want to know a truthful answer to a reel valuation question, or any other question, ask Don, he'll be glad to help. His reels were priced from $20-$200. He had some great deals at his table, some amazing pieces of history.

He may be at the Patchogue show at St Joseph's church on 4/4. Catch him there if you're goin, he's a blast to talk to, and he don't kiss azz for anyone. Just straight talk, decently priced reels, and a coupla jokes thrown in for fun. Nice meetin ya, Don and Roxanne.:HappyWave:

Met Steve from Fisherman's Source tackle and supplies. Steve's from Monmouth county, NJ. He sells a lot on E-bay, and a few flea markets. He'll be at the Sergeantsville NJ show tomorrow, and Rahway NJ in a few weeks. He may also be at Patchogue 4/4.

Pics came out blurry, but Steve had some great deals on plugs, wooden and plastic. He also had some Beachmasters, and some plugs available by his friend Steve of T Bone Tackle Co.

T Bone tackle company, started by the other Steve about 3 years ago. Steve lists Gary Hull and Harvey plugs as his influences . Right now it seems he's focusing on one style of swimmer. It's a decent size, about 3 oz, good for stayin on top in fast water.

I never fished one, so I don't know how it swims. I like how the back underside is offset. Looks to me like that plug needs a little extra effort to come out as smooth as it looks, and that Steve has some decent building skills.

Nice meetin both Steves. :HappyWave:

Hi Rich.
Thanks for the pics and show info.
Amazing how there are so many plugs/plug builders out there.
I wonder how this compares to 10 years ago.
