Pennsylvania Senators try to sneak $3.8 million earmark into the federal budget for the Delaware River Main Channel Deepening
Pennsylvania Senators Bob Casey and Arlen Specter are attempting to swindle $3.8 million in an earmark towards the Delaware River Deepening project giving it legs to continue inching forward. For over 20 years this proposal has threatened the health of the Delaware River from Philadelphia to the sea. We need to let Bob Casey know that we do not support this project and we absolutely do not support using our tax dollars to pay for it!
It is irresponsible to provide funding for a project that has so many times proven it does not pay for itself and still needs 4 state and federal permits and/or approvals before funding should begin being considered. The environmental concerns, threats to endangered species, drinking water, commercial fisheries, oyster and crab habitat, and the reintroduction of toxins into the River verify the catastrophic result if we allow this project to move forward.
Write your letter today telling Senator Casey that you do not support federal funding of the Delaware River Main Channel Deepening.
