I read that if you lock up the reels when bait fishing that you have more success of hooking the fish. Has anyone tried this?

Better watch out if it is in the holder you might not have a rod anymore.

lock up??,,thats why there are bait runners..,,if someone can't buy one then they nee a strike gaurd,,those things that snap on to the rod and allow you to leave your bail open.
