$50 fee to launch a kayak in Jamaica Bay?

A friend who kayak fishes told me this, that you need some kind of permit. Isn't the Gateway pass good enough? Every time you turn around, they want more money. :kooky:

Nope, the fee is $50 if you want to launch kayak at the designated spots in J-Bay , it is a federal program, not city.
