NH salmon fishing reported good in New Hampshire
May 12, 2009
CONCORD, N.H.—New Hampshire is telling Atlantic salmon enthusiasts to not to wait if they want a crack at some breeding-stock salmon released in rivers recently.
The Fish and Game Department says anglers are reporting good results on the Merrimack and Pemigewasset Rivers. Matt Carpenter -- who coordinates salmon restoration for the department -- says the 760 fish released averaged more than 8 pounds, with some 15-pounders.
The department says fishing may be especially good around Sewalls Falls in Concord, where extra fish had to be released because a stocking truck broke down.
