So who are the people who you see in everyday life who seem like heroes to you?
No judgement here, if you feel the person qualifies, that's all it takes. Let's hear about it, or let's hear their stories.

There's a bunch of regulars who fish a pier. Last night while they were fishin, a kayaker who had been separated from his buddies, an older guy in his 40's or 50's, lost control of the kayak as he paddled against the current. The kayak overturned, and the guy coulda drowned. :scared:
There was a guy from Honduras fishin that place. His quick thinking, and the assistance from Amboy Angler and the rest of the crew, saved that guy's life.
The guy from Honduras, Martin, had experience on the rancheros of his native country, so he knew how to use a lasso. He set up the lasso, threw it out to the guy, and they towed him in.
I talked to Martin's daughter later. She said her Dad does stuff like that all the time. In fact, he was one of the people who rescued people and saved lives when the ferry crashed into the Battery Park terminal a few years ago. She said her Dad considers it no big deal, and it's something people do naturally where he comes from.
I thought with all the racism and talking down about immigrants we see, online and in real life, this story would be a great lesson to others who think there isn't anything recent immigrants do but use our social services and tax our infrastructure without making contributions.
Congrats and appreciation to Martin from Honduras, Amboy Angler, June, and the rest of these simple guys, who fish every day, and thought quickly as to how they could help a brother in need. :clapping::clapping: :thumbsup:

That was a very nice thing to do. I bet the guy who got saved didn't care about if an immigrant saved him or not. All he cared about was breathing fresh air again.:thumbsup: :clapping:
