CAPE MAY: Man dies after jumping from tourist boat
CAPE MAY -- The Coast Guard says it has recovered the body of a 51-year-old North Jersey man who jumped overboard from a whale-watching boat off Cape May.
Ajit Modi of Plainsboro jumped from the Spirit of Cape May, an 85-foot boat used for whale- and dolphin-watching cruises, at around 10:15 a.m. Thursday, not long after the boat had pulled away from the dock.
His body was recovered near the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal a few hours later after being spotted from a Coast Guard helicopter.
An investigation is under way.
