OK guys we got 2, 3 weeks at most for the big girls in the NJ area, and then ya gotta go git em at Montauk, Mass, or Rhody after that, and be happy with 30" and less bass in your neighborhood.

So lets hear if any of you mooks got any creativity, throw it up in the form of a poem, haiku, prose, whatever ya want, just make sure it's about fishin. If ya want to win it's gotta be your own words. I don't care if it rhymes or not, I don't think any of us will be the next Shakespeare, but who knows? :ROFLMAO:

Here's my lame excuse for a poem, so's you mooks out there aren't too embarassed to post yours. ;)

Men and women welcome to post. Let's see em!:lookhappy:  :headbang:

I see you out there,
you big fat cow
Flirting with Mr Bunker,
I don't know how...

You come close,
give me a glimpse
I just want...
to grab your beefy lips :dribble:

Stroke your fat belly
touch the slime...
Maybe give you a peck
it's so sublime!

So come a little closer
ya big fat pig...
I got wood for ya,
it's real big! :naughty:

Make me hapy for 5 minutes or 15
Ill gladly return ya to the ocean green.

And if you don't wanna
follow my lure...
I'll tell all your friends
you're such a wh*re ;)

10 minutes with me, and you'll see
I hump the big girls, and set them free! :lookhappy:  :wow: :plastered: :fishing:

I once went to Montauk for Bass
I got drunk and laid in the grass
Zeno walked by me
didn't even slow as he called me an a$$

It was a mid-summer night
As I walked through the sand
Wind in my face
Kept the skeeters inland

After a cast towards the tip
Of a partially submerged jetty
My plug was inhaled
I was not ready

I missed the fish big time
As I was dreaming of Striped Bass
This fish was gone
It had kicked my *ss

Another 200 casts
No more hits for me
I enjoyed every one
No where else I would rather be

Just when I said last cast
For the tenth time
I hooked into a fish
A fish for another rhyme

(Wife yelling at me to get off the computer)

Here is my short ode to bass-----

I wouldn't want to be a bass, because I see they have no azz.
They have no game, with trebles and bunker they are poked.
They get no respect in the fishing world, such a joke.
And when it comes time to get laid, they shoot their load in the water, enuf said. :fishing:

There was a lovely lass,
who had a yen for striped bass,
She hung out at the docks,
looked for the flocks,
of fishermen who came home with the "rocks".

She approached one or 2,
said "how do you do"
I have a hankering for a bass dinner,
and can see that you're a winner

You bring me the bass,
you might get some ***,
or go around the world,
just to see my pearl,
because my *** is certainly world class....

There once was a fish named Mate
who happened upon a skate
They stayed up late
trying to mate
but unfortunately, it was too late!

I saw this on the internet somewhere, and can't remember half the words, so I'm only putting it up here because it fits in with the others. I realize I'm not entered in the contest because of that. I did want to say that some of these original ones are funny and creative though, I enjoy reading them....

There was a young lady from Nantucket, who wanted to get fish in her bucket...

She saw some old salts, said mates you're in for a surprise,
If you can fill this pail you can **** it. :D

I had this saved, found it somewhere on the net.

Over hill, over dale
As we hit the beach trail,
And those White Buckets go rolling along.
In and out, hear them shout,
Counter march and right about,
And those White Buckets go rolling along.

Then it's hi! hi! hee!
Over the dune nimbly,
Shout out your presence loud and strong,
For where e'er you go,
You will always know
That those White Buckets go rolling along.

In the storm, in the night,
Action left or action right
See those white buckets go rolling along
Limber front, limber rear,
Prepare to mount your bucketeer
And those White Buckets go rolling along.

Was it high, was it low,
Where the hell did the fish go?
As those White Buckets go rolling along
Was it left, was it right,
Now we won't get home tonight
And those White Buckets go rolling along

March along, sing our song,
With the bucket brigade of the free
Count the brave, count the true,
Who have fought to victory
We're the Googans and proud of our name
We're the Googans and proudly proclaim

First to fight for the right,
And to show a white rods might,
And The White Buckets go Rolling Along
Proud of all we have done,
Fighting the battle's done,
And White Buckets go Rolling Along.

Then it's Hi! Hi! Hey!
The Googan's are on their way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong,
For where e'er we go,
You will always know
That The White Buckets keep Rolling Along.

Sandy Hook, Montauks ranks,
Hither Hill and Cape Cods tanks,
And The White Buckets go went rolling along
Minute men, from the start,
Always fighting from the heart,
And The White Buckets keep rolling along.

Men in rags, men who froze,
Still the Googans met their foes,
And The White Buckets went rolling along.
Faith in themselves that we're right,
And They'll fight with all their might,
As The White Buckets keep rolling along.

fish the night its ghosts and big bass,

This was penned back in the 1900s by one of the early members of the Asbury Fishing club. Thought some might like to read it:

Asbury Park Club member Bob Inch, who some years before his death in earlier in the 1900s penned the flowing lines.

When our fishing days are over,
And we lay our rod aside,
And we bow our heads to meet Old Father Time,
Of all the things we ever did,
We never shall forget
Those fighting fish that hung upon our line.

The OFFC was grumbling their usual old fart grumblings the other day when we were talking about fishing opportunities for the day. I decided this thread needs to be kicked up a notch and set up this poem.

To be read to the beat of "The Halls of Montezuma"

Hope ya's like it, I think it (mostly) fits.... ;) :HappyWave:

Tribute to the OFFC
From the Rocks of the Jetty at IBSP,
to the shores of Sandy Hook.

We will tolerate the Viking internet and cell phone hordes,
to find bass on the sand, rocks, or the bay. :viking:

First to use cheap plastic plugs,
last to leave the beach at night. :fishing:

We are proud to claim the title,
of the original OFFC.

Our guys are ready for any surf challenge,
from noreast storms to calm seas (but no lightning, please)

We have fished at every beach and place,
from the Outer Banks to the Point at Race.

While others use VS, Lamis, and custom plugs, spending all the bills,
us farts on a budget go old school with the cheap plastics, metals, and bucktails. http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon3.gif

We blind cast till we find the fish,
we're the original OFFC.

We wanted to have a quiet club just old guys being lazy,
but that DarkSkies was too crazy.

We're a simple bunch of old fart surfcasters,
having nicknames like Yardville Jimmy, Mambo Minnow killer, and Metal Master,

Until the day we met Darkskies,
and our lives weren't ready for the resulting disaster...

Many times due to lack of a bite we've called it a day,
only to grumble about selling our gear on e-bay. :burn:

But then DarkSkies calls us, he's nutty as a loon :kooky:
tells us fish are jumping over the moon.

So we hit the beaches for one more scene,
hoping for the bite of our dreams. :dribble:

Should the young turks become fishing muggers, we will not despair, we will prevail,,, :beatin:

We are the OFFC.... :plastered:

The crabs will soon be biting
Springtime cannot last
Bathers now crowd the beach
Weigh in lists so short
Cows seem out of reach

With my life I must move forth
There is no joy in New Jersey
For the stripers have moved north

Prayer to King Neptune:
@C DarkSkies

O King Neptune hear us now,
please help us catch that cow,

Keep us safe from wind and waves,
even though some may splash our face.

Please take care and watch over,
that we don't accidentally crunch a piping plover

Look out for us in our addiction,
so that we don't become part of fishing fiction

We believe in you and ask your support,
because we're compelled to look for fish in any port

So when we're out there, fingers cold, frozen, and seem to have lost our way,
We ask you to help us survive another day

And if you can't control the weather here and now,
we ask for some help when we bow to the cow. :lookhappy:

Prayer to King Neptune for Mick and his wife at Montauk....© DarkSkies 2011

O great King Neptune, we beseech thee...
hear our respectful plea....

We ask your guidance for Mick our fishing brother (and his lovely wife..)
As far as good friends go, he's like a brother....

(But one who didn't push ya down the stairs,
Or put ben-gay in your underwear.) http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon8.png

More like a brother to look up,
shoot the breeze and other stuff...

And a friend of Bill W to boot,
You will never see this guy Mick in a monkey suit....

Please, great King Neptune, we humbly ask,
send this guy and his wife some bass...:fishing:

Whether it's schoolies or bigguns, they're easy to please.
and in the end they will set them free.....

So please shine down your fishy mojo and show them the way,
as he and his beautiful bride fish Montauk today......:D

This was inspired by Monty, Surfwalker, Vpass....some of the most hardcore surf guys I know... and a few other crazy fools ...if the fishin's easy, they would rather be where it isn't... ;) :HappyWave:
And please remember that because the fall 2011 season is winding down, this is satire...wanted to be clear about that as some might not understand...:)

Surfcasters' Code...© DarkSkies 2011
Lord, please put me out in the water that is white.... (Monty drools here...)
and make it hard to see in the darkest of night....

Give me some harsh wind, of this I don't jest....
but if given a choice, please make it from the Northwest....:headbang:

Throw in some wind-knots and finger freezing too...
If we ain't suffering for those fish, it ain't cool...

Keep me away from the bunker blitzes and those who would snag and drop....
Everyone knows if ya got a fish in a blitz, it's a crock........:kooky:

And keep my feet off of any boat that has a deck...
Everyone knows those fish are too easy, what the heck...:don't know why:

Instead please help me in my search...
To find those needle in the haystack 20lb bass, which I'll cast for till my fingers hurt...

And keep me away from those sand-bar mugging Vikings....:viking::lynchmob:
Even if out there, the fish they are a-striking......

If at all possible Lord, bring me fish on the darkest of nights and days.....
Because every surfcaster knows....if it's too easy it ain't worthy of praise....:fishing: :wheeeee:

Time to recharge this thread a bit.....
This is more prose than a poem, but I figured this was the best place to put it so I could find it later on.....

"The Dark Shadows of the New Moon"

Some have wondered how I chose my screen name....
Sometimes, when I've irritated someone on the internet,,,:scared: they say...."Oh Dark Skies you are so negative that must be where you got your name from" ;)

Choosing that name took some thought, but in a way, it does describe my personality, to some extent......all my life I have had ups and downs.....and while I enjoy the good times, I also have spent time in the Darkness...reflecting on many of life's issues......

I love the Darkness....and the Dark Skies....from Camping out in the middle of the woods, far from civilization, to walking a deserted beach at night....and sometimes the shadows, seem to come alive.....

My favorite times to be out there...are on the darkest of nights....:kooky:

I was thinking of that the other night, when I came up with these words.....

They may be too "Dark" for some folks....that's all right....I know some will be able to identify....and when I write something like the words below, I don't expect it to have universal appeal.....

These are the things that call out to me sometimes, the Spirits of the Night.....I know there are a select few who have felt the same way...and it is to those Souls I'm speaking to...wherever you are.....:fishing:

"The Dark Shadows of the New Moon" © DarkSkies 2012

I was casting and casting the other night....
No results at all.....
When fishing is slow, it gives me time to think....
And for my mind to wander.....

All of a sudden, out of the corner of your eye....
You detect a hint of movement....
A Shadow.....
Was it an animal?
Was it a person?
Was it a Ghost of a Fisherman from the past, who walked the same steps you did, and isn't quite ready to enter the Gates of Heaven yet?

Nope, you tell yourself, it was just my imagination.....:kooky:

Or the fatigue that comes with lack of sleep and fishing all night.....

Then, some time goes by, and you again think you saw some movement...
Out of the corner of your eye.....

How is that possible?
You are the only person out there.....

There is no person or animal that could be even remotely close to where you are....:don't know why:

Yet......
You still feel it......

Not an actual person....
Not the wind......
Not an animal....
Not the branches of a tree......

But the presence....
Of something you can't quite define......
Some Spirit that you can't see, but can feel......
It's an almost imperceptible feeling......
This feeling, you get, late at night, under the lightless sky of the New Moon....

Could it be the Shadow of Death?
The Grim Reaper?
Is it a Dark Angel coming to take your life?
Is your time on this earth done, will this be your last moment?

You are thinking of all this, from a whisp of air you just felt, coming in an opposite direction from the wind......
And in a moment...that whisp of air....is gone......

In the seconds you were dreaming in the dark, mind somewhere else......
A fish bangs your rod, and you instinctively go to set the hook, as you have done many times before....

You fight the fish, and thoughts gradually shift to the retrieval and landing safely.....
The thoughts you had, of this Spectre in the Night, gradually fade......

All is back to normal again, as you fish in the Darkness...the only living person on that beach, at that time......
Was that the Grim Reaper, was it my time to go?
But you are still here.......

So, for now, you know it wasn't your time.....just another night out... fishing in the Dark Shadows of the New Moon.... :fishing:

wind and rain is a soapless shower
:HappyWave:

Sorry I didn't see this till now, ya Grouchy Basstid! :2flip:

It really is so meaningful to me....
And it helps the country too....why..... do you realize how much we would save on water in this country, if we all used wind and rain to take showers?
Think of the savings on soap.
Think of the savings on water bills.
Think of the savings on laundry detergent.
Think of the electricity that could be saved.

We could jumpstart this economy in a NY minute....if just half of us would do that....:kooky: :ROFLMAO
Thanks for the laughs, ya basstid! :moon:
I think that's some of your best work, so far....

Nope, you tell yourself, it was just my imagination.....:kooky:

Or the fatigue that comes with lack of sleep and fishing all night.....

Cut down on the caffeine dark. You will see less ghosts.:HappyWave: I do the same thing. Dont want to give up without a fish. On the new moon nights you think you see shapes that arent there. Even more when the fog rolls in.

Hey Dark don't fret. I liked it. There is a place where you take that long walk. When you are on the trail at night, no moon. I have seen shadows that move. If you had an imagination (like you do) you could call them lost souls.I know it's nothing but it sure does help you walk a little faster to get to where you want to fish.

Steve, we saw a balloon moving just above the waves the other night.
It must have been slowly leaking helium to the point where it was ready to land, but it still had enough to keep it 3' above the water....

Under the new moon, with the wind pushing it out to sea...it was kinda spooky...pretty cool....

"The Dark Shadows of the New Moon"

Hey dark doesn't have to happen that way, but if it does at least you will go with a smile on your face. Then you can be one of the spirits of the night you are talking about. lol.;) Be careful out there.

Dark, for some fishermen like finchaser their reputation precedes them.
In your case, your stench precedes you. (sorry couldn't help myself):ROFLMAO :HappyWave:
