Suppose you buy a lot of clams and don't get to use them all in one day. Is it critical to keep them fresh, or have you ever caught fish on stinky clams? And what is your method of keeping them the freshest, other than refrigeration?

Salt them down with kosher salt then rebag into smaller ziploc bags that way you can take what you want with you.Freeze them if you are not going to use them all and refrigerate what you think you will need for the next trip the salt stiffens them up and they stay on the hook better. This is if they are already opened,in the shell refrigerate them don't keep them too long though they will die and smell like hell.I never use the stinkers bass hone in on natural scents better.

I generally do not like to use them frozen either for the most part salt them put in the fridge and use them is the best.
