Be careful fishing points or rips around high tide. Don't ask me how I know that!

I have a story of one of life's lessons. When fishing the back bay one time a friend and I were wading out. The area we were fishing is not completely flat. The full moon tide came in with a vengeance. We scrambled back but fell into some sloughs on the way back. Got very wet. Those moon tides are different, be careful.

We have about 5 more days of this. Last night it was 6.4' higher than normal, strong current, and the fish were active. Let's see some pics or hear some stories from you out there in the fishin world! :D

The tide at this place gets at most about 1' from the top of the landing. This time it was flowing over.

Quick story about this pic. On the night I shot it, the winds were churning up the sea in a noreast weather patterm. The full moon high tide was extremely high, coming over the walls of the inlet.
The Noreast offshore swell, coupled with a strong incoming tide, actually pushed some big waves into the inlet.
At one point someone yelled:
"Look out it's a Tsunami !" :scared:
It really wasn't, but at that moment we saw 8' waves coming in the inlet behind 2 boats. They could have been bigger, as we saw them start to overtake those 2 boats. The boats gunned it with all they had, beat the wave, and avoided surfing the crest of the wave. It was awesome to watch for a few seconds though, when it could have gone either way.
Never underestimate the power of the sea. :fishing:

How often have you heard that above statement? I found this on another site. Here is a guy who takes that literally. Personally, I think he's a little crazy.:kooky:

^^That looks like the Manasquan inlet where he is fishing. He's definitely got a death wish unless that tide is going out already.
Here is a full moon shot I took in October.

Great shots and info gents. Here is something I found on the super moon and the type of tides it causes.
http://earthsky.org/space/what-is-a-supermoon#tides
"the year’s closest full moon on September 28 are bound to accentuate the spring tide all the more, giving rise to what’s called a perigean spring tide. If you live along an ocean coastline, watch for high tides caused by the September 27-28 perigean full moon.

Full moon, catching less fish?
a buddy of mine swears every time there was a full moon he catches less fish. Do you guys think there's any truth to that or maybe he has convinced himself it's true and that's why it happens.
