how far will you go to find quality fish?

I'm getting in a rut lately, I fish the same 10 mile area most of the times I go out. When it's lousy, I stop for awhile, and then give it a shot in a week or 2, and it may be better. Then I will spend more time, and give it more effort. Some of my friends are big on Montauk, and think that is the only place you can catch fish. My basic question is, other than Montauk, how far will you travel, if the fish are not close to where you uesually go?

I go about 50 miles either direction from where I live. Sometimes you have to go with flow of the fish.
