old line

I have a pole with some weaker line on it. My buddy told me to reverse the braid on the spool to get another season out of it and save some dollars. I am concerned that when I am pulling in nice size fish who takes alot of line that it will break. Has anyone ever done this?

I do not do this. If I think the line integrity has been compromised I will change it. Last thing I want to do is loose the fish of my lifetime because i knowingly had bad line on the reel.

Change the line because if you do reverse it and get a hard running fish it will get you to the weaker line eventually and snap there goes the rig & a lot of line in a fishes mouth dragging behind them which could wrap the fish up and drown it.New line any time you suspect a section being weak.
