I heard about the seabass being closed, but according to this article we might have more time. Looks like we will be getting less in 2010 though. :beatin:

No closure for sea bass and porgies
Today's Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) conference call on the possibility of closing sea bass and porgy fishing for the rest of the year resulted in at least a temporary win for recreational fishermen plus the party and charter boats, tackle shops, etc. that support them. Virginia proposed a closure on Sept. 30 due to projections that the yearly quota will be overfished. That proposal was seconded by Pat Kurkul, Regional Administrator of the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), but was defeated by a vote of 7 to 4. That may not be the final word, as NMFS could take emergency action to close federal waters to fishing for those species. However, N.J. ASMFC Commissioner Tom Fote said that process takes some time. The state Marine Fisheries Council has this on Thursday's agenda, but it's highly unlikely they will opt to impose tougher regulations than those now approved by the ASMFC.
Unfortunately, we will be paying for those overages with tougher restrictions in 2010 when the Management Board sets recreational quotas for next year in December.
