This is from a release by Crazy Alberto Knie. He's a fanatic fisherman, as well as a great guy to talk to. If you have never met him in person, you should. :HappyWave:

Just wanted to put a few links in about Stripercoast Surfcasters who will have a table at the show tonight.
http://www.stripercoastsurfcasters.us/forum/index.php

They're a great group of hardcore fishin finatics who take surf fishing to the next level. If you have gotten to the state of angling achievement where you are bored with catching schoolies, and looking for a challenge with bigger and more elusive fish, you owe it to yourself to check this great group of guys out.

They're hardcore, ball-bustin, funny, crazy, and committed to getting large, whatever it takes! They live for the tides and the small windows of opportunity that exist to bring in truly amazing fish. :dribble:

Beyond that, they're committed to conservation and the future of striped bass as a resource that is enjoyed by a growing segment of society. They have aligned themseles with Stripers Forever, another great group to check out:

Here is some background on Stripercoast Surfcasters and what they're about:

I'm proud to support this club and be one if its founding members. As you progress in your surfcasting career, you will see yourself go through several stages.

In the beginning, it's all about learning, and catching. Later, you try to refine and acquire more skills to target bigger fish. During some point on this path, many will come to the realization that there is something more to fishing, like giving back to the community, helping others, and thinking about getting involved today so we will have a future body of fish to fish for.

I believe StriperCoast Surfcasters is a good stop to make along this path to becoming not only a better fisherman, but also a steward for the future of fishing. That's why I'm in, and you will see my posts supporting them. :clapping:

In addition, they have many years of surfcasting experience combined among them. They know all the greatest and most productive places along the Stripercoast because they have fished them. These are places that inspire books, movies, and passionate stories about fishing. These places inspire normally rational anglers to extend their vacations or think about moving there after visiting. And these guys fish those places....all the time! If that in itself doesn't spark curiosity to meet this great group, I don't know what will. :D

Stop by their table tonight, ask them how the fishin is, and feel free to invite yourself along to fish some of the best places on the stripercoast. I hope to see some of ya's there! :HappyWave:

I think we had a successful show.

We met a few of our members and spoke to quite a few people. Some of which i believe may be some new member candidates. Jake, keep an eye on your e-mails. If they have computers out there that is. I was also surprised at the amount of guys that already knew us.

Gunny had a great idea bring in his skishing gear and his disaster of a plug bag. We laid out our banner and a few stacks of brochures with the plugs on one side a and gear on the other. We also had Ed's rod next to us that garnered some attention with the detailed wraps. What surprised me at one point was a group of kids in their late teens were amazed by his detail.

The plugs, by far, drew more people to our table than anything. Anything that was displayed was member made. Rickski's silver swimmer was a hit, as was Jimmy's metal lips, Sconies little darter was a big hit and of course the Super Needle ("if ya can't catch a fish with it, you can club em").

All in all it was a positive experience for the club. Our name was thrust out there for more guys to see what we were about.

This came from the StripercoastSurfcasters.org site, people. I missed the show but made it up there to fish with them afterwards. Good group of people, except for that pesky Frankiesurf. ;) (nice job on the pics and narrative, Frankie)

For those that don't know us, that is Khary on the left, myself and Gunny / Stripercoast1 on the right.

I left the house while it was still dark, full of apprehension, as well as looking forward to see what kind of attention we have gained through the last few months. I wondered if anyone had heard of us, checked us out, or held any interest. I went over in my mind how I would promote the club and hoped I would say the right things. The ride went quickly and traffic was fairly light as most of the road construction in Connecticut is finishing up.
I spent a few hours checking out some of the tackle shops I've only known as web sites, and was afirly disappointed by what I found. several of them were nothing more than closets with flea market left overs on peg hooks.
I finally hooked up with Frank around 2 and we went to pick up the parking permit so we could fish later. Scored a discount from the clerk as she processed me as a resident and I walked out saving $25.00.
We unloaded our stuff, found our table assignment and got set up.
I figured several things, important as far as I am concerned, would catch the attention of the folks that walked by our table as they exited the show floor, or went to the seminar room to our left.

The fins worked well, Jakes picture on the brochures, and the member built plugs all did the trick. Jake, it's official, the entire east coast now thinks you and I are out of our minds, and need proffessional help as well as strong medications.

We felt no negative attitudes and I had a reat time talking up a storm answering questions about why we are not only differant, but relavent and important in our mission.

From what I gathered from the folks that sought us out, we can expect some new members applying through the site as well as a very respectable turnout at the Montauk Gathering. Going just by the folks that said they would be there, we can look forward to more than 20 non members.

Had an awesome time, am prouder than ever about what we have started, and am looking forward more than ever for the future of this club.

Fish hard? Fish harder? We fish Hardest.
Not long from now, many new members will understand why we say,"If you aint Stripercoast, your just another fisherman."
I would be wrong not to give a huge note of praise to Frankie for laying the groundwork, and to Kharey for all his help and attendance to the table. On behalf of all the members, Thank You guys.

This came from the StripercoastSurfcasters.org site, people.

Thanks for the plug Dark

It's stripercoastsurfcasters.us, .com or .net though, not .org. Someone seems to be loathe to transfer the .org domain to me for whatever reason.... :burn:

My bad, Jake. for some reason the old URL sticks in my mind. Guess it's finally time to move on, the new host is turning out to be a better one after all.
