When holding the rod how important is the postion of it for you? Do you have better results holding it high up, down low or parallel to the water?

That depends on the conditions and type of plug I am using. If I use a popper I generaly keep the rod tip high. If I use a swimmer I prefer to keep the tip low. The windier or rougher the lower I keep the tip.

When using a swimmer, especially a Bomber, I like to keep the rod tip lower, more parallel to the water. This enables the lure to swim at a more constant depth for a longer period of time.

I agree. Here I'm using a swimmer, Portsmouth Island NC, mid November.

When using bait on a sandbar in the middle of the fricken' ocean, however, keep your rod tip up:
