On my crankbait rod I use 12 lb test when freshwater fishing. I have some good success rates with it. The smallest test I use when going for bass is 10lb test. What is the smallest test you use for freshwater?

I have also been trying out different lures. A friend told me to try a zara spook has anyone had any luck with these?

I use 8-10lb test in the beginning of the season, and go to 12 as it gets later and the weeds are in more places. you can get away with lighter line, but I don't want to lose a bass to a weedbed.

As for zara spooks, tremendous lures!!:) If you just had to choose 3 lures, I would recommend the zara spook, jig and pig, and rubber worm for any freshwater survival kit, you can't go wrong.
