Should I be throwing out far or concentrating more on the white water to catch fish during the storm?

Depends on the wind and situation, Porgy. I had friends out last night, wind was 25 in their face and blowing fierce. The best presentation to get the cast punched out in a situation like that is a heavy bucktail or heavy streamlined metal. Sometimes you can only get out 25 feet. If the fish are feeding that's where they may be, and only short casts are needed.

3 weeks ago at Montauk the wind was gusting in the 40's. I was thinking it was unfishable, but there were guys catching bass by throwing out 20-30 feet, because the fish were right there in the wash chasing the small bait. You would be surprised how close the fish are feeding sometimes.

I was bait fishing yesterday and got my fish out right past the suds zone, about 30 feet out.

When the wind dies down don't forget to put a teaser on as you fish that white water.;)
