What makes you decided to use bait vs plugs?

Stripermania, I use bait when the water is colder, or if that is what the fish are feeding on. For example, clams or worms are a good early season bait. When fish are swallowing whole bunker then it is time to switch over to bunker. Plugging for me, is when the water starts to warm a bit and the fish have a more active metabolism. There are subtle differences here, and I don't want to lead you down the wrong road by implying that it is ok to use one and not the others. For example, you can catch a fish on bucktails most any time of the year if you work them at the right speed.
