I used to go to monmouth beach when I was a kid. Those pics look a lot different than I remember.

Those pictures are unbelieveable! It's going to take a long time to clean up that mess. How long will it be before you can hit the surf with the rods and reels again?

Mayor says the nor'easter hit oceanfront hard

BRICK — The township will seek to be reimbursed nearly $2 million to repair beaches and dunes damaged in last week's nor'easter, officials announced.

The estimated cost to repair the damage from the storm is $1,940,660, according to a township statement. Of that, $1,651,900 is attributable to beach erosion, and $267,600 to dune destruction.
"The storm hit our oceanfront hard. Our beaches are pretty much gone, and there is damage to our ocean facilities," Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis said in a statement. "Restoring them is going to take time and money, and we are going to do everything we can to make sure we get our fair share of emergency funding."
The storm, remnants of Tropical Storm Ida, hit the Jersey Shore early last Wednesday. For three days record waves and abnormally high tides erased swaths of beach and destroyed dunes from Sandy Hook to Cape May. On Sunday, Gov. Jon S. Corzine declared a state of emergency, which makes Federal Emergency Management Agency dollars available to communities affected by the storm.

The only positive thing Corzine did in 4 years
