G went out to fish on Sun night. After many disappointing nights out where he or I only managed one or no fish, the dude hooked up big time! :clapping::clapping:

He had to wait for his fish, 9 hours, boring as hell because there's no pattern this time of year to when the fish hit that bunker chunk. Incoming, outgoing, changes from night to night, I think he said he got his opposite from when other fish had been caught.

This was the only big fish he got that night. I think it was the biggest fish that anyone got in that 24 hour period. He's a better man than me, 9 hours in one area is too intense for my ADD. :D He believed the light was at the end of the tunnel, http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon3.gif so he stuck it out.

Fish taped out at 40", and had a nice size gut. Over the phone I estimated it at 23# at most the way he described it. I think it's better to underestimate sizes so ya don't get into shouting matches when you do report the catch. :argue:

I got there, almost 24 hours after he got the fish, weighed it on the boga, and took some pics. It weighed 25 on the boga. :wow: Might have lost a lb in the 24 hours prior, he had to carry it awhile on his back! So we can honestly say it was a 25# fish.

No matter how you look at it, it's a great fish to catch from shore this time of year. He's been putting in countless hours, and he deserved that fish. Ya got some good eatin in front of ya, my friend. Hope you enjoy, especially the memories of that catch.

If I left out any of the details and he wants to chime in, it's all good. It was a great story as he related it to me, I was  just to hear it.

To wait for that fish for 9 hours, I honestly have no idea how anyone could still for that long. I know I couldn't.

There aren't many striped bass that size this time of the year that were not taken on a boat. Congratulations on a nice fish, G.
