The last storm changed so much of the beach. Are there any pointers for reading the water after such a wild storm?

Scope out at low tide, then fish when water is higher. Low tide can also allow you to see and walk on sand bars that are not as visible or accessible in high tide to get to deeper water.

Also try to keep mental notes on any landmark you find good structure at during a low tide than fish them at different tidal stages to see if they will produce or not.
