Last year my last trip to the beach was 1st week of December.
Some people fish into January.
There is lots of action now, reward for braving the elements. I fished last year in the sleet, wearing the correct gear is vital, and caught shorts, was fun.

This blast of cold air should thin out the surfcasters.
Cats were even trying to keep warm this afternoon.

It depends on the weather. I'm planning to the end of the month. Mostly due to leaky wader. :kooky: I need so much new gear for next season.

when the fat lady sings then it time for Cod
But I Always fish New Years morning to get my first bass of the year which did not happen in 2009 I had my last one on News Years Eve 2008 and I wouldn't bet on in 2010
2006 and 2007 had them until mid January

Usually Dec. 15th (NY) but if the schoolies are all were banging then I'll knock off earlier no need to keep sticking the little guys need them to grow and reproduce.

I feel the same way, if all you are catching is schoolies, a 10% mortality rate will kill too many potential future bass. That being said, I was still out this morning as I felt a few nicer bass could be found in the dark. Well, they eluded me. I may try a few more times before the 15th.

I will try to fish until the end of the year, but cut down on the hours and make shorter trips. The fish are getting smaller and it is cold enough to freeze your balls off.:scared:

I still want to fish but it's hard to get motivated to go out there with all the skunkings. The storms coming in don't help it any either.

I agree with you guys, it getting hard to stay motivated. I going to give it a good shot this weekend. I may head south to areas I never fished before. I might have to start listening to that fat lady, I hate that lady.:beatin:

When I fished, I pretty much packed it in early December all depending on the presence of bait and water temps. When it becomes mostly schoolies I'm catching I'm done don't want to stick hooks in them if they are small.

Last trip this year is this Sunday AM for me, normally a week or two into December, this year I have a lot of family stuff in December, so an early end to what was a very fun year of surf fishing.

I've been done for a few weeks now except for a couple of trips to the surf.I've been doing a lot of seabass/cod fishing today will probably be my last trip on this boat unless I decide to do their 18 hour trip.
