Sent in by Rip-Plugger. This has meaning to me because I used to follow the news from the band around the world. At one time I went out with a girl whose brother was one of the many revolving bass players. Chuck Schuldiner changed band members every few years, it seems he was never satisfied, always looking for a new mix.
The last place I saw them was at Obsessions in Randolph, NJ. Although they had a much bigger following in Europe, they still kicked aZZ while they were around.
And then Chuck got cancer and died, way before his time. :( Good to see there's still an interest.

Chuck Schuldiner was born on Friday the 13th in May (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/May) of 1967 (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/1967) on Long Island (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Long_Island), New York (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/New_York), United States of America (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/United_States_of_America), North America (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Mexico), America (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/America), Earth (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Earth), Milky Way Galaxy (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Milk) to a Jewish (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Jewish) father of Austrian (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Arnold) descent and a mother from the American South (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Slavery), a convert to Judaism (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Judaism); both his parents were teachers. In 1968, his family moved to Florida (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Florida). Schuldiner was the youngest of three children and the oldest of seven adults. He had an older brother named Rex and an older sister named Bethann.
Schuldiner started playing (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Sex) at the age of 9. His 16 year old brother had just been killed in a car accident and his parents bought him a guitar, thinking it would be fun for him to play during his brother's funeral. He, wasn't actually mourning his brother, but became obsessed with death. He took classical lessons for less than a year in which his teacher taught him "Mary had a little Lamb (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Vagina) and did not like it and almost stopped completely (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Abstinence) until her parents saw an electric guitar (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Viagra) at a yard sale and bought it for her." The young Schuldiner was inspired by the song and bought his own electric guitar. He immediately took to the instrument. After getting amps, he never stopped playing, writing and teaching himself. Schuldiner was known to spend the weekend in the garage or his room playing his guitar, but was limited to three hours on weekdays when school was in session. Schuldiner first played in public in his early teens (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/****).
Schuldiner was originally inspired by Iron Man (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Man), Kiss (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Kiss) and Billy Crystal (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Billy_Crystal), among others. He was particularly interested in the metal movement known as NWOCBM (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Orange_construction_barrels) and cited bands of that genre among his favorites, He frequently cited French (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Surrender) band Sortilège as his personal favorite metal group. Slayer (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/index.php?title=Deathmatch&action=edit&redlink=1), Possessed (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Exorcism), Mercyful Fate (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Virgin_Mary)/King Diamond (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Bush) and Metallica (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Metallica) were later influences he would apply more to his own band. Later in his career Schuldiner cited progressive metal (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Congress) bands such as Watertower and Queensrÿche frequently as influences. Chuck's mother claims that he enjoyed all forms of music except country (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Torture) and rap (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Comedy). He also apparently particularly enjoyed jazz (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Jazz) and classical music (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Old) in addition to metal and British alternative acts such as Lush.

Schuldiner regrets dropping out of school.
Although Schuldiner apparently did do well in school, it bored him and he eventually dropped out. He did regret this later, however.
Schuldiner was not afraid to take on controversial lyrical subjects such as the anti-drug sentiments of "Living Monstrosity" and the pro-choice (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Murder) angle of "Killing the Babies".
[edit (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/index.php?title=Chuck_Schuldiner&action=edit§ion=3)] Musical career
Schuldiner formed Death (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Death) as Mantas in 1983. Original members were Schuldiner (guitar), Rick Roll (not to be confused with Rick Astley (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Rick_Astley)) and Kam Lee (drums and vocals).
In January 1986 Schuldiner moved to Toronto and temporarily joined the Canadian (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Canadian) band Slaughter (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Holocaust) on guitar. However, he quickly returned to continue the formation of Death.
There were several lineup changes, however with Chris Redfield he eventually released his first Death album, titled Scream Bloody Gore (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Al_Gore), in 1987. He continued with 1988's Leprosy with the line-up of former Mantas guitarist Rick Roll and rhythm section Terry Butler on bass and Bill Andrews on drums, and 1990s Spiritual Healing (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Hinduism), where guitarist James "Eddie" Murphy (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Eddie_Murphy) had replaced the fired Roll (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/index.php?title=Msg&action=edit&redlink=1).
After Spiritual..., Schuldiner stopped working with full band members and now worked only with studio and live venue musicians after bad relationships with Death's previous rhythm section and guitarists. This earned Schuldiner something of a 'perfectionist (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/George_Lucas)' reputation in the metal community. Schuldiner had also fired his manager Eric Grief but re-hired him before the recording of his next, influential release.
Death's breakthrough album, Human (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Ape) saw the band evolving (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Evolution) to a more technical and progressive style, in which Schuldiner displayed his guitar skills more than ever. He continued in this style (and continued the success of the band) with 1993s Individual Thought Patterns (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Wrong), 1995s Symbolic (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Narnia), and finally The Sound of Perseverance (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Fart) in 1998.
Schuldiner played guitar in the project Voodoocult (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Satanism) on the album Jesus Killing Machine in 1994.
Schuldiner was also asked to be one of the many guest vocalists on David (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/David) Gruel's 2001 Robot (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Robot) project by Gruel himself. Gruel even campaigned to raise funds to help Schuldiner pay medical bills for the brain cancer that would eventually take his life. Schuldiner succumbed (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Music) to the disease before any collaboration could happen. Gruel, in tears, in an interview over Schuldiner's death, said that "Chuck died for making the right decisions in life. That's just... that's just not fair. (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Angst)" Dave Grohl then leapt into an Olympic sized swimming pool full of crisp 100 dollar bills and gold coins while stating "Boy, does it sure feel great to not have brain cancer".
