NJ 2010 fluke regulations

NJ regs will be determined at the March meeting of the NJ Marine Fisheries Council. The meeting takes place in Galloway Township, NJ and is open to the public and the public can speak.

It's a little bit out of the way, guys and girls, but if you want to have a say, here's your chance.

So far they're talking about 19 1/2 minimum with a slightly abbreviated season. The minimum could go even larger if guys decide they want a longer season.

That's where the concept of conservation equivalency comes in.

The ASMFC has defined “Conservation Equivalency” as:

Actions taken by a state which differ from the specific requirements of the fishery management plan, but which achieve the same quantified level of conservation for the resource under management.

For example, various combinations of size limits, gear restrictions, and season length can be demonstrated to achieve the same targeted level of fishing mortality. Conservation equivalency will be determined by the appropriate
Management Board.

Yeah but my uncle said thats a trick they use so a lot of people won't go to the meetings.
