I was looking through my dad's old log book and noticed that he seemed to catch more and bigger fish on a new moon. Has anyone else noticed that same about their fishing results?

I prefer the new moon cycle over the full moon cycle

Tides are stronger during a new and full moon, and bigger bass are active while bait is easier to stalk and find as it gets disoriented in the stronger current. I prefer the new moon also, the first 3 days after it.

New moon has lower light conditions. Full moon may as well be as bright as the sun. IMO

I prefer the new over the full, new moons are darker at night full moon sometimes cast too much light on the water if its clouded over I'll fish. They both have faster moving water in which the fish like to feed and higher and lower tides. I still favor the new.

New moons can have a bad effect for many areas i fish in the back bay, especially for tiderunner weakies. The new moon brings extra water and we have a spring wading spot that we get pushed back too far from extra water and also it will go over the banks and bring back mud and grass. I have found the bass dont care too much but it totally shuts down the weaks.

I seem to have better luck on the new moon rather than the full as well. I will have to pay more attention and see if good ole dad is accurate.
