I guess I can live with that. I hate the 2 fish limit though.

New York has proposed fluke regulations that would provide an extended season if the Marine Resources Advisory Council approves them on March 16. The proposed season is from May 15 to Sept. 16, with the same 21-inch minimum and two-fish limit as last year - when there was a two-week closure in July before the season ended in mid-August. That short season at least kept N.Y. from going over quota. That's the first time in six years the Empire State hasn't overfished. As a result, the slightly larger coastal quota along with the underage from 2009 permitted regulations that provide a 23 percent increase up to 449,000 fluke. New York will also continue their law suit against NMFS that claims faulty statistics have been disadvantaging N.Y. anglers for years.

We cannot sustain the fishery w/ recs and comm. having different size limitsBetween both groups we are taking fish from14" to a unspecified size limit, what is left juvenile fish and how many survive between being preyed on by larger fish, hooked and caught by who knows how many people eventually dying and our poachers can't leav e those idiots out.

Rec:2 fish @ 21" May 15th-Sept.16th and lets see if that happens.

Commercial:All Year 14" minimum.

Notes:A trip limit set by the dept. in CONSULTATION(nobody consults w/ us) w/ the commercial fishing management plan for Summer Flounder(Do they have a plan for the recs not sure)The Dept. in their discretion may establish a weekly limit authorizing holders of commercial permits to possess and land up to a specified amount of summer flounder in a 7 day period.

Like I said above different size limits will be the dead end for summer flounder this is not rocket science you can't take all the breeding fish and expect to be able to sustain the fishery. Its just like wiping out all the people on earth except for everyone under 10 no reproduction equals extinction.

Yep commercials kill ther 14" because fillets fit better on a plate and they get paid more for them,so you can imagine all the larger fish they cull

NY rec's are forced to kill the breeding size fish
NJ gets to kill fish just reaching breeding size

Great management:2flip:Luberchenco backed by Nobama what a duo

This is the part that sucks. When will fishermen have a bigger voice in the decisions they make?
