I try to spray them down when I get home, but sometimes it just does not get done.

How long can you wait to rinse off the rods and reels after a trip to the salt?

If I can't get it done right away I always make sure I do it the next day. Salt can do lots of damage to the reels. $ are tight so the extra is worth it.

I like to take a clean milk jug with me fishin and rinse off B4 I leave to drive home.I'll have to admit It doesn't get done every time,But my rods and reels have lived for quite a while with little maintenance.

At least by the next day just use a spray of water from the hose a hard stream sometimes lets water get into places it don't belong on reels and a light coating of WD-40 when the reel is dry goes a long way spray and wipe down. Or you could break it down and take it in the shower my wife loves that one.

In good weather, I brush and spray them down with fresh water, winter I take them in the shower with me.
