Wow this is awesome news, this one is 2 lbs bigger than the last one! I didn't realize the big weakfish were in yet. I hope to be able to get just one in my lifetime that even comes close to 15 pounds. Anything bigger and I would **** myself! Congrats to Rich Swiss and Dave Alu for another outstanding catch!:clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:
From last night's Courier Post online article:
Potential IGFA All-Tackle World Record Weakfish! (http://blogs.courierpostonline.com/fishhead/2009/03/27/new-igfa-all-tackle-world-record-weakfish/)
March 31, 2010 • 11:49 pm
By Jim Freda (http://blogs.courierpostonline.com/fishhead/author/jfreda/)
A second all tackle world record weakfish is now officially a contender for the IGFA record books. Today at 9pm another potential record weakfish of 21.42 lbs was weighed at an official NJ weigh station. It was caught by David Alu of Jackson (photo right). This monstrous fish was taken from the New York shoreline in Raritan Bay on a bunker chunk. Alu was guided by Rich Swisstack, a hard core surf guide from Shore Catch Guide Service (http://www.shorecatch.com/), Manasquan. The fish was caught on a St Croix Legend Surf Rod and a Daiwa Spinning Reel.

The word of this record catch spread quickly. Within one hour after it was caught, Mr. Swisstack and some of his friends were blocked from leaving the parking lot by hordes of anglers eager to see this record and perhaps catch one like it. They descended upon Mr. Swisstack like hundreds of angry Army ants, all clawing and grabbing to be included in the spotlight with this renowned angler and local legend.
The crowding was so bad that police and fire trucks had to be called to the scene to restore order to the popular beach fishing spot. This resulted in hours of delay in getting the fish weighed. In the end some of the anglers clawing and pawing at the record fish caused it to lose some weight. It was estimated that without the attention from the internet and cell phone muggers that the fish could have gone over 24 lbs.
Mr. Swisstack even sustained a cut on his forehead during the melee. It was said that Mr Swisstack sustained this cut as the crowd pushed closer to see the record fish, and there was an older senior citizen using a walker who was in danger of getting crushed. Mr Swisstack gallantly jumped into the crowd, allegedly shouting: "Don't any of you people have a life, can't you find a fish by yourself? Why don't you leave this poor old senior citizen alone!"
Mr Swisstack refused treatment and further comment when news crews arrived on the scene.

As soon as the crowds were cleared, emergency personnel escorted Mr Swisstack and Mr Alu to the tackle shop for official weigh in and to sign the documents required as the beginning of the IGFA certification process. The rest of the weigh-in proceeded without any incidents. However, all the traffic outside the shop of the clueless angler throng was so massive that police were forced to shut down a portion of local Rt 36.

You got me. I was beleiveing it all until I read about the internet and cell phone muggers. I was thinking that a newspaper report would never say something like that. I still kept reading hopeing for more clues. Very good job, roflmao!:plastered::clapping:

I was fooled for a few minutes. Great use of detail and sarcastic irony. The real irony here is that with the way things are going that could be a true event in the future. Capt Swisstack has a good reputation and I could imagine him diving in to save an old man, even though it's all fantasy. Sometimes fantasies have a way of becoming reality if we let them.

Steve, amazing job on the satire and compelling sarcastic commentary. :clapping::clapping: I wish we had some big bucks here as I would hire you immediately as an S&A field reporter.
You really could be a writer with the talent you have. The way you put that together, it almost seems like you have previous writing experience. Thanks for the entertainment! I don't think Swiss would mind.
PM me your address. I'll send ya a free plug. :HappyWave:

Just for the record ;), I had nothing to do with this set up :laugh::laugh: !
I came into work this morning, and as I was checking my E-Mail I read one from Darkskies, that I should check out this post ! All I can say right now is thank you very much, I honestly have not caught a fish in two nights, fishing till 4 am and then coming into work at 7am. I got here this morning, not in a very pleasant mood, as you all can imagine, and that was exactly what I needed to read. I was laughing my butt off :ROFLMAO !!!
I wish it was true, I hope to see those GIANT Weakies again this spring, Last year they were very far and few between in my area, I heard further out east they had them pretty good for a while. I think we only had 4 big ones or so last year, two were over 17 lbs. but none were touching 19 lbs.
BUNKER MANIA HAS BEGUN !!! I must of had ten different phone calls and text's about guy's hearing about bunker here and bunker there, I personally have not seen any yet where I fish, but the conditions are just getting right again for them to show up at any tide. The one thing that I do know about bunker is that they do not like real dirty water. they are filter feeders and from what I have seen over the years, when the water gets very silty and you get a bunch of fresh water running into the bay the bunker leave the area QUICK.
Well Done StorminSteve, I need to do SOME work today, and then I'll be back out for another all nighter, hope to scratch this skunk colored monkey off my back tonight, two nights without a fish, and my wife is even ready to throw me out of the house, and I only have been seeing her an hour or two per day/night :don't know why:, I guess I'm not and easy person to deal with when fishing isn't going my way  !
Thanks again for the laughs,
GOOD LUCK, Swiss
P.S. Just for the record, according to my log book I have put 38 bass on the beach this year since March 11th, but all those fish were caught scattered over 9 out of 20 trips so far, just so you can see that the Skunk Monkey climbs aboard the Swiss express quite often :laugh::laugh: ! HAVE FUN AND HAPPY EASTER :HappyWave: !

Glad ya liked it bro.
Steve came to me with an idea, and I gave him some guidance. The guy is mad creative, and funny. I think he did a great job poking fun at some of the insanity out there. :clapping:
Meanwhile, when you guys dial into fish, it's because of all the hours and sleepless nights spent out there. It ain't that easy to get into double digit numbers consistently. You and the crew manage to do it more than most, because most don't have the incentive to put that kind of time in. It's easier to just "mug Swiss" :don't know why: http://stripersandanglers.com/Forum/images/icons/icon13.gif
Happy Easter to you and your family, and even to the eternally crabby Dave T. ;) :HappyWave:

This is so funny it's classic! Great job guys. Swiss if anyone deserves to catch a record fish it's you with all the time you are putting in. Good luck this season to everyone!
