Wow this has to be sad for her family. Are there any people here who dive who have an opinion? njdiver, do you know anything about this?
The Coast Guard tells Eyewitness News that an injured diver who lost consciousness while diving from a boat off the southern New Jersey coast has been pronounced dead.
It was not immediately clear how the diver, identified only as a 30-year-old woman, injured herself Saturday afternoon. She was being treated at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, initial details on her condition were not disclosed.
A rescue crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light responded to the Lady Go Diver, which was about eight miles off the coast of Barnegat Light, after a crew member reported the injury around 12:40 p.m.
The woman was soon transferred to the rescue boat and taken to the Barnegat Light station, where emergency services personnel took her to the hospital.
