This report was initially posted by Foley, a good charter captain and an even better Dad. He puts together some great trips. When they aren't happening, he, his SIL Tara, and sometimes his children come out for a great time.

He's a great guy who everyone seems to like, and it shows.

Congrats Foley, WTG. :clapping:

Thanks also to G for bringing this to my attention. :HappyWave:

Oh what a night! Anthony wanted to book me for a striper trip last yr and we never settled on a date and then this yr we got blown out on his first two dates.

I suggested to him we make it an afternoon trip and unfortunately his one buddy that was in could not get out of work for this wild trip.

I had almost no time to find bunker, running late before my guys got down there but I managed to net about 45 which would be more than enough .

Departed at 2pm and shot out to the tip of the hook where there was plenty of bunker all balled up and being bullied around.

The seas were flat calm all the while they were calling for a small-craft advisory and we lost our first 8 or so bunker to blues and I was just going to move to another pod and the bass started swirling on our baits.

I don't know how many fish the boys boated but it was a lot and they had several around 30lbs with a few under.

Then they forced me to reel in a fish which was very nice as I dont fish on my charters (thanx again guys) and she was 40lbs on the nose.

All the large fish were released up to this point with the boys keeping only the smallest and then the bunker pods vanished and it slowed down so I said we will drift right over the spot we had the most action to see if there are any stragglers and that was it.

A run off on a weighted live one and the battle was on. I t was taking an extra long time to boat this fish and I checked the drag 3 times during the fight and in the end one hell of a fish hit the net.

The boys wanted to get her mounted and I cant blame them so they brought her home. They started making calls right from the boat for a taxidermist but if anyone knows a good skinmount guy in northern nj please let us know, thanx.

And congrats on that fish guys and thanx for sailing with me.
