I have been jigging for them at night for 3 weeks now, choice spots. Not a touch. Any one know of any at all in the NJ or NY area?

This guy got one in the FI area from a boat yesterday, so they may be around in small numbers. He was using gulp white mullet 3".

This report was posted on another site on june 5. I have been asking some of the old guys where I fish if they saw any, but so far there have been no catches I heard of.
"Report:
caught a 33 in. stripper, a 20 in. fluke, a 24 in. weaky and a 37 pound drum, all on fresh bunkers. i had a god time but damn i miss the fight in the blues, cant seem to find them "

I'm not much into weakfish but ran into a buddy of mine yesterday who said he went out for them. Got all skunked out.

Good news. Heard of a few in the Brigantine area, but they were 2nd hand reports.

A guy posted this on another site. Looks like a decent one, maybe over 10#. I'm not sure if he got it from a boat or surf fishing. Still, it's a beautiful fish.:clapping:

A few associates are getting some spikes in the back bays of S Jersey in the late afternoons into dusk. There is no consistency, hit or miss.

A guy got one july 5 at Fort Tilden -
3:45am incoming tide, not much in the way of surf. I worked a chicken scratch bomber and green teaser. To my surprise on the third jetty I nailed a weakfish on the teaser. About 14 inches.

Some buddies are getting them, here and there, by chumming grass shrimp at night in Barnegat Bay.

I was fishing for them last night in some of the usual RB places with artificials. I got blanked.
A friend nailed a few today with some decent porgies. 19 1/2", wtg. Sandworms were the ticket. We should be hearing reports on the NJ Raritan side any day now.

I can confirm the BB catches on grass shrimp as well. Not too many, a few small spikes.

They might be early this year. Friends got a few in lower BB near structure in the last week. And this report for RB was just posted by Al fishstory.
"Capt. Sal Cursi of Cathey Sea from Sewaren was out fluking last week in the back of the bay when a couple of spikes were hooked in the Reach, and he said his mate later caught a bigger weakfish. Capt. Stan Zagleski of Elaine B. from Highlands also had a report of a couple of weaks on Friday while catching fluke in the Reach."
